Cross Town

Artist: Art Stenholm

Cross Town

Brooklyn Queens Crosstown subway line, NYC, was opened in 1937. Sophisticated characters people watch as trains come in. On the platform, vending machines were popular: there's a peanut machine and the character is distracted by the subway door opening, losing his bunch of peanuts. This game features an animated backglass that reveals a hidden joke. When the door opens we see a traveler playing a huge tuba, the cause of the passengers' startled reactions.
